Groton House

Stinky made him move up to prelim/training at Groton House. From here on out he will be competing at preliminary level! He landed in the middle of the pack after dressage with a 39.6. Not bad for his first attempt at the test! The jumping phases are where he can really shine. He was the only horse in the field (of more than 20 horses) to go double clear! He jumped the only clean show jumping round of the entire division! And cross country was great as well, he finished well under the time.

The picture attached is not from the event it is from a schooling this spring at unicorn farm. The event photos have not been posted yet, but I will poist a link when then are up.

Fair hill

Three down, one to go before moving up to prelim at VAHT!

Fair Hill went well. Danny said that stinky was "foot perfect" out on the cross country. Classico Z showed his age in dressage and yelled for his frields but he only got better as the weekend went on. He finished 12th in the open training.

Training Level at Morven

Classico Z had his first event of the season today. He was VERY excited to get back to competing and His ears were pricked almost the entire time. Dressage went well. Stinky got confused about when to do a medium trot and when to canter but his medium trot and canter were beautiful. The test was a lot better than Flora Lea and it is obvious that Classico Z is much stronger than he was in the fall. It was very cool to watch him develop his medium gates in FL. He went from being able to hold it for 3 steps to flicking his toes all the way around the ring in just over two months! Danny Warrington and Classico Z get along really well. Danny understands that he is still just coming 5 and so he would take him on hacks and long trot in addition to doing ring work. I think this is why his attitude is so great when it comes to competing.

Show jumping was so much fun to watch and there is a video on my youtube account gopony010.

He went clear and had a lot of room to spare. I am very excited to see him move up to prelim this year. Maybe the jumps will fit his jumping effort (he clears training level by at least a foot).

Cross country was fantastic as well. Some funny footing caused him to have a run out but Danny said that it was not his fault. He was super brave into his first double bank down, maybe a little too brave! He finished the course full of run and after the short walk to his barn had caught his breath. He is well conditioned and ready for 2010!

FL Horse Park Trot

Today Classico Z went with a few other Warrington Eventing horses to the FL Horse Park for a trot through the country side. "Stinky" was extremely happy to be out in the open and he even got to gallop a bit at the end. I rode another horse behind him and the faster he goes the less he touches the ground. In his biggest gallop of the day he must have been jumping 2 ft in the air! Despite all of the "up" in his stride, he really can cover some ground! The ride today was just what he needed after a few weeks of limited time outside. He will be working in the ring tomorrow.

Classico Z had a jumping school today (his favorite). You can see his enthusiasm as he tried to jump the standard's height. Keli said that she thinks he needs a good gallop and I couldn't agree more. Hopefully he will go cross country schooling soon (and for the first time ever) and get some of that extra spring out of his system. We love the springs, we jump dont need him to use them that well to go training level!!!

Florida workout

Classico Z made the trip to Ocala, Fl very well. He is stabled at Debby Adams' facility 10 minutes from HITS. He is now full clipped and has gotten his mane pulled. He looks ready to show! He has his first jumping shooling a few days ago and was VERY happy to be getting back to his favorite thing. His spectaular form is still there, he was clearing the grids by a foot or two. Today he did Flat work and I am attaching a picture from the session. His stride is really improving length wise, especially at the trot. He also did some counter canter and shoulders-in.
We are really greatful to have such wonderful sponsors to help this horse reach his full potential which we feel will be great!!!

Here are two links to horses that are related to Classico Z. They are cousins I believe.
